Upgraded to Blog 5

I finally did it, I upgraded to the latest version of Blog. It adds speel chacking, and a - what’s the name of that book that you can look in to get other words that mean the same thing? ;) In case you missed it, I was just playing around, and yes, I do know what a thesaurus is, and I also know how to spell “spell” as well as “checking” - no emails telling me that I’m not funny, I’m quite aware of the fact.

I’d like to take this moment to speak on the indescribably stupid people who run the CFL. First, they say they are going to go ahead with the weekend’s schedule, then they say that they are not going to play this weekend, then they re-schedule three of the four games for tonight, with the fourth left hanging. I’ve seen less waffles on a Sunday at the local Grainfields (sorry, it’s the only link I could find - and I didn’t want to resort to IHOP or Denny’s style references)

Personally I don’t think that the decision to play this weekend was that bad, but if you’re going to make a decision, stick with it. Nobody would be too upset if they hadn’t played this weekend, of course you risk pushing the Grey Cup game back a week, and the weather in Montreal could get quite nasty, but that’s the Grey Cup, that’s football.

Really though, this entry was made to test out the new features of Blog 5 (beta1) - Gee it’s too bad that I already used up that “Oh No - Beta” quote (though at the time, it was more appropriate, see I’d just finished reading about a guy who’d had his beta machines stolen from him by some dumb criminals, and how he’d had to order a machine from Japan, because there were no Beta machines for sale in North America at the time… Ok, enough of an aside for one entry)

Weekend fun

I didn’t do much this past weekend. Erin and I went to see Kiss of the Dragon at Rainbow. It was ok, but really the best scenes were in the commercial, and there wasn’t much more to it. I left the theatre kind of disappointed. I guess having watched so many Jackie Chan movies has raised my “Kung Fu Flick” standards a bit. I’m just glad that I didn’t pay $9 to see it first run. It wasn’t a bad movie, but it wasn’t a great movie either.

We also rented American Pie and Twin Dragons. We ended up watching American Pie Saturday night, and Twin Dragons last night. American pie was funny, and made me say “I don’t want to have kids” at more than one point ;) Twin Dragons was pretty good too, though I guess me liking a Jackie Chan flick isn’t too much of a stretch - No?

Watched some TV too. I got to watch two episodes of Sledge Hammer which is(was) a great show. I was somewhat surprised by the ending of the first one they showed - hostage takers flying a plane, and Dori Doreau landed it on the roof of a building… I guess I didn’t expect to see something like that for a while. Anyways, I got a couple of episodes on the 5100, so when I have a tapeful, I’ll dump them to the VCR. Classic TV at its best.

Speaking of things that were affected by Tuesday’s tragedy - apparently Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty will be changed before being released to the US - the game takes place in New York, so I suppose it’s not surprising. From what I read, there won’t be any changes to the storyline, or to the game itself, they’re just removing the WTC buildings from some backgrounds or something. I wonder if that will push the release back any further.
