I was sick all weekend, I was home from work yesterday because I was sick, and I’m still sick today. Oh well, I think I’m on the recovery side of this sickness at any rate.
Mom’s birthday was on Saturday (I won’t say which birthday…) so we went to the Off Broadway Dinner Theater. Now, for the benefit of those who aren’t aware of my opinion of most live theater, I’m not a big fan. This particular play was a pretty good example of live theater (in my opinion, which means that it sucked). It was a comedy, and the funniest parts were wise-acre comments made by my brothers and myself…The food was pretty good though. I still say we should have put Darren into the cupboard during the intermission.
After that, we ended up breaking out the Turbo Grafx 16 and playing some Bomberman and Motoroader. It makes me want to finish my arcade cabinet and fire it up with some of those great games…
It also inspired me to do an ebay search for a couple of TG16 games, which was an interesting exercise. The most expensive game on ebay (that I saw) was Bonk’s Big Adventure, which was going for around $100 US. The interesting thing is that I traded this very game away for a copy of Street Fighter II, and Power Eleven soccer way back in the day. I think it’s odd, because when I bought Bonk’s Big Adventure, it wasn’t hard to get at all. In fact, I had ordered a couple of other games, and the other ones were unavailable, but BBA was in stock and ready to rock. Pretty strange (note also that I’m 99.9% sure that I had the HU card version, which is supposedly the rare version)
Interesting anyways, how things go in cycles, because at that time, DraculaX (Castlevania for the TG16) was by far the most difficult to come by game, and I see that it’s price has dropped if anything. Wacky.
