We (being myself and a couple of co-workers) went to a new Chinese/Thai restaurant for lunch today. Lee’s Cafe - on 3rd avenue. It was quite good, quite quick, and reasonably priced - the lunch specials were in the neighbourhood of $5. The desserts looked quite good too, though we didn’t indulge. I think we’ll be going back there again (unlike certain places that serve us moldy corn bread…)
Oh yeah, I got sent this article about Australia’s big bender last night. Good reading. That satirewire is usually good for a laugh or two.
So, how about those Habs? In the trade of the week, Brian Savage for Sergei Berezin. I think it was a good trade, since I guess Berezin is under contract at least through next year (though I’m not sure how long or anything - why isn’t that mentioned in any of the news stories?) Savage is streaky, and the trade will likely make both GM’s look good at some point. My only problem is that the Habs already have a speedy smaller Russian forward who is always making plays but can’t finish - Oleg Petrov. For my money, I’ll take Oleg. Seems like he’s genuinely happy to be playing for the Habs, which is good. I think getting Andre Savard as the new GM was a brilliant move. He’s made nothing but good moves since taking over the team, and I expect we’ll see a return to the glory days in the near future.
Simpsons quote of the day - Homer: “What’s the point of going out? We’re just going to end up back here anyway.”- 10 comments

You’re all right of course, the Habs suck at being losers like the leafs, which is why they’ve decided that they’re not going to do it anymore.
I mean, they couldn’t even be losers long enough to get the fans wearing paper bags on their heads to attend games…
Once the leafs remember why they were put on earth (that is: to lose) all will be right with the world again.

Wow, does it ever look like Saskatoon here today. Icy sidewalks on all. I even slipped and buggered up my leg yesterday. Oh well, won’t stop me from enjoying the Canucks play the Oilers tomorrow night at GM place :)

You’re going to see the Oil! Bastard!!!
I’m going to see the game on March 23rd in Edmonton, against Calgary. Hopefully, Calgary will be a better team again by that time, so that it’s a good game ;P

Wasn’t Sergei Berezin the player in that mighty ducks movie? you know, the one who can skate and deke, but can’t hit the net with his shots? didn’t they buy him big thick glasses?… I think he looked like a nerd after he put them on, but he helped them win the game..
beware the triple deke

Re: Calgary being a better team by then - hopefully not too much better, so they don’t embarass the home team :)
Re: Mighty ducks - yeah, I think that might have been him. I think they gave him laser eye surgery, but it went badly, and now he sees nets in the corners, and in the crowd.
