It’s training it’s pouring

I did get the netscape thing fixed up, tested, and I’m even posting this from netscape.

Last night I played “Evo” which is a strategy game based on dinosaurs, in which you have to try to get your particular strain of dinosaur to survive better than the rest of the players. I won, which was nice, but the game was fun anyway. Relatively complicated, but fun nonetheless.

Training this week

I might do a post later tonight from home, but don’t be surprised if the updates are a little sporadic this week, since I’m on webMethods training.

Short post today

Thanks for the comments and emails, and thanks for not calling - the whole ordeal isn’t over yet, but I think both Erin and I are dealing with it well, and we’re eager to put it behind us, so thanks to everyone who emailed/commented expressing sympathy and support.

I’m working on getting the back-end set up on B2, and I’m just about there. I should be able to make the switch mostly seamless to everyone out there who’s reading the page, including all the archives sticking around. I like the way B2 is set up, and since it’s all written in PHP, I can play around with how it works myself, without bothering some developer about getting my favorite feature implemented for me :)

Sad News

I suppose some of you have been wondering where I’ve been over the past week. Well, on Tuesday, we found out that Erin had a miscarriage. We really don’t know much except that the Ob/Gyn said that 35% of pregnancies that he sees before 14 weeks are miscarriages, and the current thinking is that they happen because of some genetic problem with the baby.

Physically, Erin is fine, and emotionally, we’re both dealing with it. I’d request that if you want to express sympathy or whatever, either comment here, or email Erin or myself rather than calling. I think both Erin and I would rather not talk about it to everyone, since telling and re-telling the same story can get a little stressful.

Thanks.

Big Surprise?

Erin’s pregnant.

Ok, Rather than doing another post, and pushing this one down on the page, I’ll just edit this post, and hope you read it anyway :)

April Fools day is one of my favorite days of the year. In fact, I had a great april fools day plan for this site within days of putting it online. It wasn’t a very original plan, but it was a plan anyway. I decided to go with the “not kidding” approach this year instead, since Erin let me post the news today. She wanted to wait until after her birthday, which was yesterday. She’s due October 20th, and so we’re both pretty excited about the whole thing.

Anyway, back to April Fools Day. I found a couple of mildly amusing april fools day pranks online, and I thought I’d post about them. First, apparently Google’s success can be attributed to pigeons. Second, ThinkGeek is selling all kinds of crazy gear, ranging from Boba Fett’s Original Helmet to an infinite power generator. My favorite though, is BBSpot’s affiliation with the MSN Network. Shouldn’t surprise me though, since BBSpot is one of the funniest pages that I visit regularly. Fark has been passing comments through a dialectizer filter, which is good fun too.
