Just a quick link

Since I haven’t posted any cool links for a while, I thought I would post a couple today.

First, this page has 16 tips for more effective searching, most of which make a lot of sense, though some of them are clearly aimed at a different target audience than me. Explore around the rest of that site, there’s some interesting reading there

Davey Jones sent me a link to What’s Better. I’d come across it a month or so back, and thought I’d posted it here, but apparently I didn’t. It basically presents you with two pictures, and asks you which you think is better, then shows you stats on what other people thought etc. It’s interesting at any rate.

Regarding the “second” post from yesterday - it might work out better, as RDS might wind up with all the Habs games, in which case I could get them for a measly $1/month. Might be worth my while ;)

Say it ain’t so…

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Betcha Didn’t…

Did you know that not only does Adam West have a website, but he’s not allowed to use the batphone anymore?

I’ve been having fun with webMethods lately at work - there is a lot that you can do with it, if you just know the right buttons to push. I’ve got it integrated with our other message broker, so it’s relatively automatic to get data to and from the mainframe. Well, not really, but it’s at least possible.

With all the nice weather we’ve been having lately, we’ve been going outside for coffee break in the afternoon. It’s just a matter of time until the wacky stuff starts happening out there again I figure…

That’s strange…

So much for the robustness of the internet. I couldn’t get to my server earlier today, couldn’t even ping it. However Sam Spade could browse the site, traceroute to it etc. I’m not sure how I can get to a web page that can get to my web page, but I can’t get to my web page directly.

It happens every now and then though, where I can’t get to a portion of the web from here. I blame the Leafs.

The leafs gave it a valiant effort, but came up short (again) which is too bad. I was actually cheering for them, since they’d seemed to have cleaned up their act a little more. It’s too bad that their run had to end just as they started getting healthy. It’s not surprising though, when you only score six goals - three power play goals, and two in the last minute of the game with Cujo on the bench.

I slipped and fell when going for the disc last night during Ultimate - if I’d caught it, it was a point, but since I didn’t, the guy covering me was on it in a hurry, and with my newly gimpy leg, I couldn’t catch him. End result was a point for them, and the end of my game. I don’t know if I’ll be able to play on Thursday, but my guess is no. Sucks, because I was having a good time up to that point.

That’s cold, Jay…

It’s super hot outside, and thus, super cold in here. I think I’m also coming down with a bit of a cold. All in all, it leads to some cold cold fingers.

I watched the hockey game last night. The only thing I can say about it is that Brian Willsie had an awesome game. Considering the amount of ice time that he saw, I was very impressed with the things he created (including the assist on the OT winner.) Should be an interesting contest between the Leafs and the Hurricanes tonight too - I’m still picking Toronto in 7, since I think Cujo has far better hockey in him than we saw in game 5 even - and that’s a credit to his defense, since every time he put a rebound where it didn’t belong, his team promptly cleared the puck out of danger.

I didn’t get blowed up (Not even real good.)

Well, the bomb scare was a mild inconvenience, and that’s all. I haven’t heard anything more about it, but basically they had a couple of blocks around here cordoned off on Friday at around noon. I say mildly inconvenient because we had lunch reservations for a birthday in the office at Crawdaddy’s which is about two blocks north of here, and we had to walk around the cordoned off area to get there. I didn’t hear if it was a real bomb, or what the deal was, but it was a suspicious package on a busy street corner in front of a bank (My guess is that someone finally snapped after all the service charges)

I went to a bachelor party Friday night - a good time was had, a few beers were ingested, and plenty of embarassing moments were experienced by the groom.

On the agenda for this week is to play some ultimate, watch some hockey, and hopefully relax a little.

Bomb scare downtown today - It’s all settled now, but I don’t have time to write about it right now. I’ll follow up later.
