Didn’t they just do that Tuesday night?

Last night, the Habs won their second straight overtime game against the Penguins, and their third game in a row overall. Tonight they play the Senators, which should be an interesting game. I don’t think I’ll be able to watch it though, since Erin has to go and get some routine tests done, and that will likely take up most of the evening.

For some reason, my hard drive has been running all day here - it’s quite annoying, and I’m trying to get to the bottom of it. It doesn’t seem to be related to the network at all, since I ran a sniffer, and came up with no interesting traffic. I know what process is doing the accesses, I just don’t know why at this point. I’m sure I’ll get to the bottom of it before too long :-)

Say what?

Every now and then, I come across something that I like, and copy it into a text file, drop it on my desktop, and forget about it completely. Then, every now and then, I clean up my desktop, and find these little gems scattered in various “New Text Document (6).txt” files. Sometimes they suck, but sometimes I find something like the following sentence:

“Scientists have shown that the moon is moving away at a tiny, although measurable distance from the earth every year. If you do the math, you can calculate that 85 million years ago, the moon was orbiting the earth at a distance of about 35 feet from the earth’s surface. This would explain the death of the dinosaurs…the tallest ones, anyway.”

Made me chuckle quietly under my breath at any rate.

Well, I didn’t expect that to work…

My ISP (Shaw Cable) was apparently having troubles this morning - as a result, people wouldn’t have been able to access this site. Unfortunately for the world, that problem seems to be fixed, and now people CAN access this site :-). The amazing thing is that when they came back up, this site just miraculously started working again. I figured they would have changed my IP or something like that, but apparently that wasn’t the case.

Hopefully that doesn’t happen too often.

Erin had a doctor’s appointment this morning, but we didn’t find out anything new. We’re going for an ultrasound next Tuesday, which should be exciting, since the last ultrasound was four months ago or so. This time, the baby (or babies ;-)) should be a lot more recognizable than the last time.

Weekends sometimes fly by.

Friday night I went over to Al’s place and played “Sega Soccer Slam” until 1:30AM, which meant that I slept pretty late on Saturday. Saturday afternoon, I went to Mom & Dad’s while Erin went to a sewing machine class. I watched the end of the St. Mary’s vs. McMaster game (McMaster could have won if they hadn’t insisted on trying the onside kick - IMHO) while listening to the Hilltops win the Canadian Junior title on the radio. It was hard to do - listening to one game while watching another - possession changes were a little confusing sometimes.

After that game, of course we watched the U of S beat McGill, setting up a U of S vs. St. Mary’s Vanier Cup this Saturday. I swear if I hear that “I’m picking the Huskies” lame attempt at a joke again, I’m going to explode (St. Mary’s and the U of S are both Huskies, for those who didn’t know.)

After that, we went to a fundraising dinner for the university Habitat for Humanity thing. It was a good time, the food was good, but I could feel myself getting grumpy from lack of sleep, so we left while everyone else was still sitting around visiting. Erin was tired anyway :-).

Sunday I watched more football - I love a comeback, so I would have really enjoyed the Winnipeg Edmonton game if Khari could have put two completions together at the end of the fourth quarter. As it is, for the first time in as long as I can remember, the top team in the East meets the top team in the West for the Grey Cup this Sunday.

Now that football season is almost over, I guess I should start making plans about what to do with all this newly freed time - No more Friday Night football to watch, and if I can manage to not watch any NFL, I’ll have whole weekends to actually do stuff :-).

Trust me, I know what I’m doing.

After playing the Guess the Dictator or Sitcom Character as Sledge Hammer, I was stumped on one of the questions - so I did a quick search, since it should have been an easy question. Well, I saw on the Sledge Hammer Arsenal that you can get the complete Authorized Sledge Hammer video collection on EBay - that’s right, Authorized. It’s a bit pricey though, and expires tomorrow around this time.

What a revoltin’ development.

This past weekend, I flipped the TV to Movieola to watch some classic cartoons. They show old (very old) cartoons on that channel, and sometimes it’s quite interesting to watch. Anyway, the particular cartoon that was on first was “Goopy Geer” the description of which can be gotten at the Big Cartoon Database. Anyway, the main character (Goopy) kind of looked like Goofy of Disney fame. I thought that was funny, but didn’t make much of it. Goopy Geer was released in April of 1932, which is apparently a couple of months before Disney released the first cartoon with Goofy in it.

What’s my point? I don’t know that I have one.

But the Horses are already gone…

I find it funny that Warner Brothers would feel the need to release such a terrible piece of propaganda. First they say “The leaked Harry Potter is poor quality” then they say “Well, we couldn’t even download it - it must not exist.” Personally I don’t care if it’s out there or not, but the article I linked up there is so stupid it’s funny.

I think it’s interesting that there’s no author attached to the article either.

Will I go and see it in the theatres? Maybe - probably not until it comes to Rainbow though, and even then, not until the crowds have died down some. Nah, I’ll probably wind up seeing it on DVD (either borrowed or rented.) I just don’t get all the Hype that surrounds Harry Potter, or more importantly why grownups seem to have jumped the bandwagon on it too. The first movie was decent, but not spectacular. To each, his/her own though.
