I’m a terrible “blogger”

Another day, another excuse. I think there will be a lot of days with no posts in the near future - Monday for sure, since Erin’s going into the hospital for a test at 11:30. At some point, the baby will be born, and that will likely be another couple of days with no posts. I’m such a slacker.

I won’t leave you hanging

No post of any consequence today, since I’m meeting Erin for lunch before a doctor’s appointment. You’ll still get your SQotD though.

Bart: “I have a watch with a minute hand.”
Smithers: “(sighs) All right, you can come. What time is it?”
Bart: “12:80. No wait. Wait. Wh-what comes after 12?”
Smithers: “One.”
Bart: “No, after twelve!”

Mahna Manah

First off, sorry for the lack of post yesterday - I had to take Erin in to the hospital for some tests, the results of which we will learn tomorrow. I won’t say much more about it here, but don’t worry, Erin and the baby are both doing fine. (Well, technically Erin is feeling crappy because of a cold, but you get the picture…)

Monday night, Erin and I went to Fuddruckers for supper. I hadn’t had a Fuddruckers burger in a long time, so I quite enjoyed it. On my way out to the car, I passed a family with four kids ranging in age from about 3 years old to 12 years old. As I was walking by, one of the kids said “Mahna Mahna” (Not to me, just out loud.) One of his siblings replied with “Do doo do do do.”

I almost dropped on the floor in surprise. I remember seeing that muppets bit when I was quite young, and other than the catchiness of the tune, I didn’t think it was that remarkable. I like it, but I was quite surprised to see these young children familiar with it. I mentioned it to Erin, and she said she wasn’t familiar with it. Google to the rescue - I found a link where you can download the MP3, or the video. Here’s another link where you can find the video. The warning on that first page is quite accurate. The tune will get stuck in your head, but not in a bad way.

I’m baaaaack

The weekend was fun - I rented NHL Hitz 2003, NFL Blitz 2003 and Redcard 2003 (Soccer in the same style as the other two.) As it turns out, Hitz is the only one of them worth playing. As Jason points out, Hitz lacks a certain polish. For what it’s worth, I think that 2002 is maybe a better game, not really exhibiting the same problems with slowdown and glitchiness. I don’t know what caused the slowdown, but it wasn’t pretty when it happened. Still a lot of fun though.

The table hockey tournament was fun, I managed to lose out in the first round of the playoffs though. I think people were having a lot more fun with Hitz though. We set up a franchise and played through the first level, which was good clean fun. Sunday, Darren came over, and we set up a different franchise, and played through two and a half levels. It was a little better, since we had some continuity from one game to the next (instead of switching controllers all the time)

2003 was a little buggy, but 2002 has me tempted.

Lunch with Erin

Erin met me downtown for lunch today, so I won’t be able to entertain you with a long post. This is no different than any other day - I’m consistently unable to entertain you with any sort of post…

Why dey do zis to me? I could keeel dem.

I watched the Montreal-Tampa Bay hockey game last night. I think I’m going to give up on watching the final minutes of Habs games, since it seems like if they’re up by one late in the game, they’re going to give up a goal when the other team pulls their goalie. I can’t believe how many times they’ve managed to do that. Oh well, at least they’re tied for a playoff spot now, which is pretty incredible considering how long their losing streak was before they fired Therrien.

It seems to me that I haven’t discussed that firing yet. I remember telling someone at the end of the playoffs last year that it was almost too bad that the Habs had such a good run, because that will make it impossible to make an off-season coaching change. Therrien wasn’t the right guy for the job, and the Habs didn’t play well for him. Near the end, you could see guys giving up on plays, and kind of going through the motions, which is usually a sign that they want the coach fired. Doesn’t make it right, but that’s the way it is. Hopefully Julien can get Breeze-by to play some defence again.

Early to bed and early to rise

Erin and I crashed pretty early last night, so as a result there’s not much new for me to talk about today. What does that mean for you? It means that I’m going to talk about something “old”

Saturday, Januaray 25th, 2003, 2:00 PM, my place. Table Hockey Tournament. Be there. I’ll let you have a whole seat, but you’ll only need the edge.

So far I’ve heard back from a bunch of people who plan to attend, so it should be a good time. There will be table hockey, there will be PS2 hockey, there will likely even be Hockey Night in Canada (or reasonable facsimile) It will Amaze you, it will astound you, it will leave you questioning everything you’ve ever believed.

Ok, maybe I went over the top with the hyperbole (is that even possible?) but I’m sure we’ll all have fun, and if you aren’t there, you’ll have to content yourself with knowing that we’re all having fun, and you’re not there.
