I watched the Montreal-Tampa Bay hockey game last night. I think I’m going to give up on watching the final minutes of Habs games, since it seems like if they’re up by one late in the game, they’re going to give up a goal when the other team pulls their goalie. I can’t believe how many times they’ve managed to do that. Oh well, at least they’re tied for a playoff spot now, which is pretty incredible considering how long their losing streak was before they fired Therrien.
It seems to me that I haven’t discussed that firing yet. I remember telling someone at the end of the playoffs last year that it was almost too bad that the Habs had such a good run, because that will make it impossible to make an off-season coaching change. Therrien wasn’t the right guy for the job, and the Habs didn’t play well for him. Near the end, you could see guys giving up on plays, and kind of going through the motions, which is usually a sign that they want the coach fired. Doesn’t make it right, but that’s the way it is. Hopefully Julien can get Breeze-by to play some defence again.
