Raw is Iraq

I watched some of the news coverage last night, and was struck by the sheer amount of speculation that the “news” media now engage in. I’ve decided that from here on out, whenever I hear a reporter “guessing” or “assuming” or “speculating” that I will change the channel. I figure I won’t be able to watch the news for more than five minutes anymore.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again - the 24 hour news networks take five minutes of news and stretch it into 24 hour coverage.

Switching gears…We (Erin) did up our taxes earlier this week, just to confirm that we don’t owe the government a whole pile of money. Imagine my concern, when we found that I owed a bunch of money, even after counting my RRSP contributions for the year. Turns out that because she couldn’t find my contribution limit slip, the system we used counted it as zero, which meant that my RRSP deductions weren’t factored in. After finding that number, now the government owes me money, and all is right with the world.

The reason that I wanted to make sure that we don’t owe the government a bunch of money, was so that I could finally pull the trigger on the projector purchase (to go with the screen I built a while back.) According to the tracking number, it’s out for delivery today, so I expect that I’ll be playing with it tonight. It’s going to require a rearranging of the livingroom, and I’m not entirely sure how we’re going to set it up just yet. The projector mount that I ordered hasn’t shown up on the tracking number yet, so it will be a couple of days before I can get it in a permanent situation anyway.

Incidentally - since I haven’t mentioned this before - William loves the screen - I think it’s because it’s white, and framed with black velvet, for an extremely high contrast. He stares at it all the time.

Simpson’s quote of the day: “Ha ha wha. Oh, sorry I’m late. There was trouble at the lab with the running and the exploding and the crying when the monkeys stole the glasses off my head. Wh-ha ha.” - Professor Frink
