When we were stopped in Oyen on Sunday, I noticed that they were selling books on tape in the gas station. I thought it was a good idea, since I was tired of listening to the CD’s that I have in the car, but sadly, our car doesn’t have a tape player. It did get me thinking though. Why not? I was thinking that it wouldn’t be that expensive to produce CD based audio books based on classic PD content graciously supplied by BlackMask. I’ve mentioned this to a couple of people now, and it seems like an idea with some merit.
One person even suggested we should go one further, and set up a website that produces “radio plays” on a regular basis. People might be willing to pay a small fee to download the plays, if they’re any good. The other merchandising types of revenues might also some day materialize. It’s an idea that’s still in the tire-kicking stage, but I’m really giving it some thought.
Anyway, when doing some research about radio plays, I came across the Old Time Radio Shows MP3 CD Catalog. They’ve got thousands of radio plays from the 40’s and 50’s for sale in MP3 format - $5 a CD, which is quite reasonable, especially considering how much material will fit on a CD when encoded as 32Kbit MP3s. They have samples you can download and listen to, so I’ve been listening to various things so far this morning, as I work. I’ve listened to “The Shadow,” “Nero Wolfe,” and “Dimension X (The Martian Chronicles)” so far this morning. Pretty good quality, especially considering how long ago they were created.
Ron McLean’s “3 7s? I thought you said Cherrys!” comment at the end of last night’s broadcast had me cracking up. Should be an interesting night of hockey in store for us tonight.

Well, I am now officially unimpressed with the playoffs. Now that the teams I was cheering for are out of the playoffs, it’s time to back the underdogs (for the most part anyway). So, here are my picks for next round: The Ducks over the Stars, the Wild over the ‘Nucks, the Lightning over the Devils, and the Sens over the Flyers - that last one is becuase I just can’t bring myself to cheer for the Flyers.

I thought I heard screaming and crying from the south last night…Hey, at least Amy’s team is still in the playoffs :P
My picks for this round are: Anaheim, Vancouver, New Jersey and Ottawa (Gigere is awesome, he’ll steal the first game, and the team will do the rest from there)

Here are my picks: Dallas, Vancouver (despite the Wild being rather lucky for me!), Ottawa (I’m developing a strong dislike for Philly) and New Jersy.
