That didn’t seem too long, did it?

I posted yesterday, despite the long weekend, so if you didn’t see it, you might want to scroll down past this entry (or you might not - depends on how much you want to see a picture of William…)

Saturday, Erin and I went to see the Matrix Reloaded at 12:30. The crowd wasn’t very big, so I’m pretty skeptical about the numbers that they’re reporting for the weekend, but I digress. The movie was Ok, but not as good as the first one (in my opinion at least.) The action was good, the car chase scene was pretty cool, but there were some large parts of the movie that they could have left out, and nobody would have cared. Well, I suppose the people who were in those parts would have cared, but nobody else would have missed them. Ok, their families and friends would have missed them, but - well, you get my point.

The one thing that I found interesting (not really a spoiler, but if you want to have no foreknowledge before seeing the show, skip to the next paragraph…) was that during the “dancing” sequence (which could easily have been dropped from the film, as I discussed earlier) the crowd at Zion seemed predominantly made up of visible minorities. Doesn’t bother me none, but it was noticable enough that I thought they would work it into the plot somehow. Then later, we see a scene with a bunch of ship captains, and they’re predominantly white. I don’t know if it was intentional, but again, it struck me as odd. Maybe it was just the lighting in the dance scene or something. On their own, neither thing struck me as odd, but the dichotomy was a little strange.

First game of the ultimate season goes tonight. Should be fun.

Bonus long weekend post

Today is a holiday here, so I actually posted this on Friday, but “post-dated” it. Enjoy a great picture of William, all by himself

It’s gotta be worth at least 1000 words…

Jumping machine

William has been really enjoying his jolly jumper over the last week. We got it set up for him last Wednesday (if I remember correctly) and he’ll sit and jump in it for long periods of time without getting upset at not being held. There really aren’t a lot of activities that can hold his interest for very long, so it’s somewhat amazing how long he will sit and jump. It’s pretty cute to see him really going at it. Unsurprisingly, he can jump quite well/violently. He tends to use his right leg a lot more than his left though, so he winds up spinning in slow circles as he jumps. Like I said before, it’s pretty cute.

The long weekend is approaching, and I think we’re going to get to spend it quietly at home. No company, no major tasks that we have to spend all weekend working on, nothing but taking care of William and sleeping in very late (for me at least ;-)) Maybe we’ll get around to finishing the curtains for the livingroom or something.

Why is my office vibrating?

For a good part of the lunch hour today, my office has been vibrating quite noticably. I assume that it’s related to the construction they’re doing across the street, but it’s still kind of disconcerting.

We (and this time, I mean Erin) got some prints from London Drugs yesterday. They’ve got a pretty good deal there, where if you buy their keychain ($7 or something) you can get double and triple prints for $0.99 extra (10-40 prints) If you do the math, it brings the cost per print down quite a bit (as low as $0.22/print if you get triples of 40 prints) Not bad. Anyway, we’ve got some good pictures of William, both with family and without, but I keep forgetting to send them to work, so I can’t post them. Maybe some day I’ll remember, and you’ll all get what you’re coming here for.

Happy birthday to someone

I’m sure it’s someone’s birthday today - I just don’t know who.

Aaaaanyway, my Grandma is in town this week, so we (being Erin, William and I) went to Mom & Dad’s for a bit of a visit last night. It turned out that we (being Dave, Bryan, Darren and I) played TG16 the whole time I was there. I guess we’ll be going back over tonight for a proper visit :)

Grandma is always lots of fun. Between teasing her about being the local drug dealer, and teasing her about having to re-shingle the roof, we always manage to have fun. It’s good that she’s got such a sense of humour, or we’d have long ago driven her to the loony bin. She seems to like William too (for some reason :-))

Speaking of William, and Grandma’s - William reminded his Grandma (my Mom) why she shouldn’t hold baby boys with no diapers on them last night. It was pretty comical.

I live in Saskatoon, so I got some bushes.

William and I went out to Early’s Farm and Garden on Saturday and picked up some Saskatoon berry bushes. We were planning on getting three bushes, and they had three varieties, so we got one of each. The bushes were a Mother’s day present for Erin, on her first Mother’s day as a mother.

We dug up some cedars that we had in the back yard, and replaced them with these Saskatoon bushes. I’ve never been a fan of cedars, so that was one of the things I’ve been meaning to do for a long time now. The bushes went in fine, and don’t appear to have died just yet, so that’s good. When we were planting them though, I read the little write-up on each variety a little more closely. I read the first two while at Early’s, but since they both had a variation on the theme of “Sweet, juicy, good tasting purplish fruit,” on them, I assumed that the third would be the same. Turns out that the third bush describes them as “edible.” Not exactly a ringing endorsement. Anyway, I figure there are probably one or two people out there who are reading this, and have never seen a Saskatoon berry, let alone tasted them… For you, check out The Riverbend Plantation, where they apparently sell all manner of Saskatoon berry products. I just picked that link at random out of google though.
