My inverse pick strategy paid off. I guess I can say it out loud now, cause I can’t jinx it anymore. I really didn’t want Disney to have the Cup, even for one year. Hopefully they manage to sell the team, and the new owner renames them to something less “mighty.” Yeah, it hurt my average, but I know that if I’d have picked NJ, that Anahiem would have won.
I’ll get around to updating the final totals at some point, but once again, we wound up well below 0.500 as a group. Pretty sad actually. I better cover it up, or we’ll all be asked to leave the country.
The Conn Smythe trophy going to Giguere was interesting. I’d have no qualms about it if he’d played as well in the finals as he did in the first three rounds. Mind you if he’d have done that, they likely would have won, so I guess it’s a moot point. The other side of the argument is that there really was no one person that you could give it to. I mean, yeah, Brodeur got his 7 shutouts, but NJ played awesome defense, and he didn’t have to make many spectacular saves all playoffs. I’d like to see them give it to a player who doesn’t even make the finals next year (ie, give it to Cujo or something after another first round collapse ;)
Simpson’s quote of the day:Bart: “So, what’s it like being famous, dad?”
Homer: “People know your name, but you don’t know theirs. It’s great.”

Greg,
If you ever need a piece of trivia. Our cousin by marriage is the only non-goalie that has won the Conn Smythe and played on a losing team!
