Some people in Winnipeg want to bring the NHL back up North. I don’t want to sound half baked, but I think it could work, with a new CBA to curb salaries to reasonable levels. Certainly the potential market is much bigger in Winnipeg than it is in Mexico City, which is the next logical place for the NHL to try an expansion franchise.
There’s even a website for the Return of the Jets Campaign with all the information you ever wanted to not read.
I think the NHL will be changed by the CBA talks coming up. I think there will be a labor stoppage, and I think the league might not survive it, to be supplanted by another league or something (if they’re not careful.) I honestly don’t care, as long as good hockey gets played for the Stanley Cup every year. That will happen even if the NHL dies a horrible death. That much history will survive. Won’t it?

my favorite part of the Jets article was this little passage
“The new MTS Centre is half completed and has the ability to be the loudest, most intimate building in the NHL”
I always love going to intimate hockey games, don’t you?

Intimate is great at a hockey game only if you are there with your wife/girlfriend, or Wayne Gretzky…otherwise, I don’t think it will work :P

There will a lockout for one single reason: the highest paid players and many coaches just want a year off!
And while lunarics want to recreate the WHA, fielding a team in the Skydome…intelligent people in Winnipeg, Pittsburg and Quebec city should sit together and start a New Hockey League (NHL!) There will be lots of players out there with no contract and willing to play for $100,000 per year.Add to that a somewhat interlocking schedule with european teams, and you have instant sucess at sensible costs.
Who are you Greg?Come on we have bussiness in front of us. LOL
