Maggie the Monkey is 1-6 while my Mom is 7-0 at this point, in playoff prognostication. Overall, we’ve picked the upsets correctly, (with the exception of NJ/Philly, which was split 6-7 the wrong way.) That doesn’t bode well for the Leafs tonight, thought we were somewhat split on that one too.
We’re a collective 67-24 heading into tonight, which is to say that we’re doing well - our record at the end of the first round will be either 73-31 or 74-30. Of course, depending on the outcome tonight, all of us picking the favorite would have wound up with a 78-26 or 65-39 record.

For curiosity sake, the experts on TSN are 41-36 (there are 11 of them, including the monkey). That gives them a winning percentage of 0.533, compared to our 0.736. So we’re really kicking the expert’s asses :P

Well, I’ll take this chance to put my picks in now.
West:
Calgary over the Wings (go Kipper!)
Av’s over the Sharks…of course, if these 2 come true, I’ll be taking out some extra insurance, just to be able to fall asleep
East:
Leafs over Philly…they may be old, but I’ll take Balfour over Esche any day.
The Habs and Lightning is tough. If the Habs play like they did in the last couple of games, T-bay doesn’t stand a chance…but it took them 4 games to get to that point. If they wait that long in round 2 to get going, the Bulin wall will walk all over them himself….so as much as I hate to do it, I’m taking the Lightning over Montreal.

my picks are as follows, I choose the most electrifying team in hockey, namely the tampa bay lightning to win, and the other east matchup will be an upset with toronto.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and pick evegni nabokov to defeat colorado, and of course calgary will beat detroit.

As much as I would like to, I just can’t pick four upsets in the second round. I mean upsets by standings :P
Calgary, Colorado, Toronto and Montreal. I’m guaranteed to be 6-6 after this :P

Wait a minute…let me rephrase that…I meant that I want to pick all of the upsets. My bad, no brain this morning.
