The first major snowfall always amazes me. I’m always amazed that the city isn’t paralyzed by the road conditions. Traffic moves slower, and gets backed up a little in places, but by and large, people get where they’re going, and there are remarkably few accidents. Obviously there are still lots of accidents, but I always expect more than there are.
The other side of the coin though…There are always cars in the ditches, and accidents to see, and people driving recklessly (before becoming another car in the ditch.) The thing that amazes me the most though, is when people stop paying attention to where they’re parking. There have been two cars park across our driveway already this morning. It’s not like I haven’t shoveled the snow. It gets Erin really upset, so I’ll be glad (once again) when we move to a neighbourhood where that’s less likely to happen.
Actually, the blue skies have returned, and I expect most of this snow will melt away, which will give everyone another chance to do the “first day of winter” thing all over again.
Simpson’s quote of the day:Bart: “Teamwork is overrated.”
Homer: “Huh?”
Bart: “Think about it. I mean, what team was Babe Ruth on? Who knows.”
