And, we’re back.

As mentioned last Wednesday, I had another four day weekend coming, and got to spend some time at home. Julia doesn’t seem like such a tiny baby anymore, she’s just like a newborn, even if she is a little small yet to be considered an averaged sized newborn. I’d guess she’s around five pounds, though I don’t really have any basis for that guess other than the fact that she seems to be getting bigger. William has been adjusting quite well, though he still gets jealous sometimes. Dave and Katriona were in town for the weekend, so we spent some time at my parents place, playing games and stuff. Katriona has posted some pictures of Julia over there, so if you’re interested, “watch that show”

What has really struck me recently though, is how differently the second child affects your life when compared to the upheaval of the firstborn. I mean, yes, Julia’s entry into the world wasn’t exactly smooth sailing, and there were some pretty stressful times over the past nine weeks, but in general, we’re more comfortable with Julia at home than we were with William for his first couple of months. As an example, I’d wager that the ambulance won’t be at our house if Julia coughs on her vitamins… Now, that’s not to say that it’s easy or anything. There are just a different set of challenges to face - mostly involving William’s reaction to his sister. In all though, William has been extremely well behaved, and most of the problems stem from him being either too affectionate, or overtired/hungry. I’m pretty proud of the way he has handled the situation. He’s a remarkably mature two year old at times.
