William was awake as I was getting ready for work this morning. He’s at that stage where he likes to help, and he likes to ask questions. First, he was going to help me get my belt (”but I’m already wearing a belt, William”) then he thought I should wear a tie (”but I’m already wearing a tie, William”) Then he followed me downstairs, peppering me with questions the whole way. I don’t remember what most of them were, but they were along the lines of “what are you doing with your shoes?”
After I had my shoes on, I realized there was a stone in one of them, so I took it off and took the stone out. William wanted to know all about the stone - how it got there, what it was doing there, why I took it out, where it came from etc. I felt bad because I really like spending time with him when he’s inquisitive like that, but I had to go, leaving his final question unanswered. I think he’s started to miss me when I’m at work.
When I came home yesterday, Erin was sitting on the recliner with a child sleeping on each side of her lap. William was sprawled, and Julia was cuddled up close. Shortly after I sat down, William woke up, opened his eyes and saw me, all without moving anything but his eyelids. The way he was laying left his head upside down, and he spread his face into a huge grin. “You’re home from work!” he said. He smiled while laying there for a few more minutes, and then we were off to “play in the playroom.” I really have to post some pictures when I get home - except the camera card is at my parent’s place in the camera… Hmmmm.

The inquisitive stage is great. Until bedtime, at any rate. Mya kept asking me questions last night, instead of going to sleep. “Where is grandpa? Where is mommy? Where is Cassie/Madison?” etc. It’s sweet, except when you’ve spent an hour with her trying to get her to sleep :P

I enjoyed William’s questions this past weekend. My favourite was “do you have a sister?” “what’s her name?” “where is she?” “why is she there?” “what does she do there?”. And to simplify things I told him she was at work (which she was) and when he asked what she does I said she works at a computer (not a complete lie, she does work on a computer when she’s not digging in the field). To which he exclaimed with huge eyes “just like Daddy”.

I just remembered another funny question…’Uncle _____ (to protect the offending Uncle), what does crap mean?”

It’s amazing how bright and inquisitive he is for not even 2 1/2 yet- areal joy!

If I know William (and I think I do) he probably also asked “Why did you said ‘crap’?” of Uncle

Just played in my first online poker tourney with actual $$ for first time. Was a $5 ’sit and go’ with 18 players. Managed to win and get my $37. Critical hand I had J-2 diamonds and it flopped a flush. We both checked and the board was a 4 card open ended straight draw. Checked again and the board was a straight. I bet $3k hoping he made the high end of the staight and he made it $9k to go. I knew I had him and I put him all in. Then a strange thing happened, he had 10-7 diamonds. We were both setting each other up the same way! So I got a bit lucky that I had the jack and victory was mine.
Thought I’d post this for you given you seem to play a decent amount. I’m on a bit of a hot streak having won about Cdn$850 last weekend in a home game…
