As you may have noticed, I did manage to get some stuff done over the weekend - including combining William and Julia’s sites into one site - kids.nodecam.com. Go there for all your cuteness needs.
Sunday night, my family came over for burgers and air conditioning, which was good. As the sun was starting to set, we worked on getting the missing deck roof panel replaced, and got it mostly in place. It needs to slide about a half inch, but for that to happen, someone will have to get up on the roof and guide it into the slot. Besides, the mosquitoes were getting absolutely horrendous, so we called it “good enough for now.”
William has been riding his bike like crazy, and the long weekend saw a few trips to the park and back, escorted by either myself or Erin (or in one case, both of us, as well as Erin’s uncle Gary and his partner Dave who had stopped in for a brief visit.) He had his first wipeouts, but nothing too major. Hurt pride the first time, and a slightly skinned knee the second time. I have to be honest, I thought it would be next year before he really got the hang of riding this bike, but it was like a switch got flipped one day, and away he went.
Oh, and the projector lamp gave up the ghost Monday as well. It died quite a bit prematurely (I can’t check the lamp meter without a lamp, so I don’t know how prematurely at this point) I suspect largely due to the problems we’ve had with the power over the last few months. It’s not totally unexpected, but it still sucks. I guess that means I’ll have to postpone buying the screen paint for a bit, since a replacement lamp kind of shot the budget a little. I did get a raise on Friday though, so the budget has more wiggle room ;)
