How I spent my wintery weekend

The weekend was wintery. Very wintery.

I got stood up for the hockey games by Jason, which I’m going to hold a grudge over (ok, not really - put down the baseball bat Jigs.) We went to the mall Saturday afternoon to pick up the “Here Come the ABC’s” DVD which I’d ordered for William. It was a clear sunny day when we went into the mall, and a crazy whiteout snowstorm when we left. We mostly hunkered down for the rest of the day. Julia slept on my arm for a couple of hours after we got home, and I finally got around to ordering a monitor to go with the Mac Mini that should be arriving later this week, or early next. All that’s left is to get a new keyboard, and we should be all set.

I did wind up watching hockey though - picking up the Habs game on RDS when it was 2-0 Montreal, only to see the lead disappear on an early third period goal, then restored with gusto before a final 6-2 finish. I won’t say that the Habs dominated the game, because they didn’t (though they did outplay the Lightning.) They did however bury their chances, and Tampa had more than a few lapses in judgement that led to some really nice chances.

Here Come the ABC’s was interesting - I was a little disappointed with the sound quality at various points of the DVD, but otherwise it was pretty solid. Oh, and they really wasted an opportunity on “Can You Find It?” when the song keeps asking if you can find various letters, which don’t even show up on screen until just before the song announces “there it is.” I will say this - “Letter Shapes” makes a lot more sense now that I’ve seen the video.

Did I just review a kids DVD? Apparently.

Simpson’s quote of the day: I’ll just link to this video instead.
