Pretty low key night last night. Erin gave a La Leche talk at the hospital, so William and I stayed home. He was watching Theodore the Tugboat one minute, and the next minute he was asleep. Apparently he hadn’t napped yesterday afternoon (which Erin neglected to mention to me ;))
So I watched a terrible hockey game instead. I haven’t seen a lot of hockey this year, and the hockey that I have seen has been pretty good. The Habs/Leafs game last night was brutal, and it was all due to the “zero tolerance” officiating that was going on. It’s been a while since I’ve seen so many non-penalties get called. It got to the point where I was surprised every time there was a whistle without a corresponding penalty. Pretty brutal calls both ways (though obviously as a Habs fan, I feel that they got screwed more than the Leafs did ;)) If that’s the way a lot of hockey has been called this year, I can see why some people aren’t too happy with the “New NHL.”

The flip side of that is the Oilers-Stars game last night. Can you believe that there were only four penalty calls the entire game? And the hitting was amazing! It had me believing in the new NHL for a bit there. Then the Oilers lost in the shootout. I officially hate Jussi Jokenin.

Ooooh speaking of childrens shows (ok you never really talked about it but you did mention theodore)… The other day I was browsing the tv listings and saw a show called “Yam mini roll” didn’t pay it much mind but it must have been on CBC or something because it was on a lot of times. Anyways I decided what the heck I’ll check it out. The description of the show was something like (and I kid you not) “a superhero sushi roll fights injustices in the name of onrequited love”. Just thought I’d share a random thing with you :).

Did you watch any of the Washington- Pittsburgh game last night? There was a pigeon on the ice for a large portion of the game (you can actually see him on one of the goals scored). He sat on the mesh on top of the net for a little bit, then decided the ice looked like a good place to land. At one point, Kolzig skated over to him, the bird didn’t move so he shot him (fairly gently) towards the boards. After the bird stopped spinning, he flew into the rafters for a bit. 2 minutes later he was on the ice again when pittsburgh scored on a 2 on 1. Watching the highlights later they showed the bird during the goal, but completely skipped the part with Kolzig.
