The switchover to Shaw from expressvu went really well, and everything worked pretty smoothly for over a month until last Thursday, when the firewire recording started getting a little bit flaky. Like really flaky. Like it records maybe one out of 10 shows that it’s supposed to record. Frustrating for everyone involved.
I watched the hockey game last night, and when the overtime penalty was called, I thought that Mike Peca would wind up scoring a short handed goal on a bad giveaway. I was close I guess ;) It was strange - Carolina stopped skating once they got the powerplay and seemed to be trying to slow the game down - something they hadn’t been doing throughout the game. I can’t explain it, but if game 6 (and 7 if there is one) are as entertaining as parts of game 5 were, I won’t complain either. There were some parts of the game where it seemed to have degenerated into a trapfest between the bluelines by both teams. It’s hard to believe that Carolina only had 24 shots, because I thought that they carried the play for a lot of the game (including the 2 shot third period…)
Tonight is football draft night. I’ve done some preliminary research, and have a bit of a strategy in place for how to build my team, but I’m not sure if it matters much in the grand scheme of things. My team looked stacked last year (and looking back at it now, it still looks pretty solid) and yet I missed the playoffs while teams that looked particularly weak (and still do) made it. Luck of the draw seems to be the order of the league ;) But I’m not bitter.

It was a pretty good hockey game. The final score could have gone either way I think (wow, that was a bob cole/harry neale -ism).
I’ve thought the shots both teams have been higher than the statistics on nhl.com say. It was really obvious in edmonton when carolina had 4 shots in close and the announcers said 2 minutes later that shots were 2 a piece.
